Past Reflections

It is I your cyber web weaver, Dragan circa 1964, with my parents Milan and Ellen (Radulovich) Koprivica and soon to be Dusan who later becomes Fr. Dusan.

The car and that stupid bow tie I remember as a tyke, not being able to watch Superman on TV ("idiot box")or 3 Stooges before going to Church because of the bad guys and the slapping and hitting in those programs.

I remember the Church being held at the Hall before Ravanica was finished being built. It was a mixture of different aromas from incense to cigarette smoke to sarma being cooked downstairs. The old guys sitting in those steel folding chairs talking politics.

Being pinched on the cheeks all the time by the Babas ( I mi meni!).

The Cantors chanting also stick in my head.  I was young then, but it sounded mysterious, especially while looking at the Icons like St George and the Dragon.

By the way the car in the photo is a 1960 Dodge Seneca

Memories of Serb Fest 2000

One of my finest memories of Ravanica will always be Serb Fest 2000 at
Freedom Hill Park. I don't ever recall seeing this community more together or
the amount of love and respect and genuine affection that everyone showed to one another.  I will cherish the memory forever.

I would especially like to acknowledge the wonderful organization of
the entire affair.  It seemed that everywhere you turned, it was apparent
that someone had put some thought into the thing observed, and a good
decision was made.  So many small things were anticipated and dealt with in
advance.  For example, the church being set up when we got there for the
services, the spray cans for the barbecue crew, the special refreshment
tickets for the young dancers, et. al.  I could go on and on with this, but
what it showed was that the people who worked on putting this wonderful
affair together really put their hearts into it, and their minds followed
right in step.

My heart is so full almost to the bursting point.

God bless all of you for the effort you put into this wonderful event!
